We work in partnership with carers, social services and local authorities to design, build and maintain supported housing to meet the very special needs of some of our tenants. We currently provide supported housing to more than 150 people.
In Maidenhead we took on the task of re-housing the residents of an institutional hostel, which was due to close. To meet this housing need, we worked in close consultation with carers and the residents to design and build two fully equipped eight bedroom registered homes. Both were built as part of new mixed housing developments to promote social inclusion. The project transformed the lives of the residents by providing them with homes designed with their input to meet their individual needs.
Both projects demonstrate our ability to look at housing problems and come up with workable and cost effective solutions that match the needs of both the provider and the tenant, while meeting the latest government guidelines. Earlier this year, we acquired 13 care homes from Berkshire NHS Trust, which are home to 66 residents with learning difficulties. We will shortly be evaluating the personal and accommodation needs of these residents to ensure that the homes meet their needs.
