Go Ahead for new Princes Risborough Care Home

Housing Solutions has been given the go ahead to build a new residential care home in Princes Risborough.

Wycombe District Council’s Development Control Committee have voted unanimously to approve plans for a 90 bed residential care home, which will be built on the former Berryfield School site.

Jill Caress, Housing Solutions Group Business Development Director said: “We are delighted with the decision. This development will substantially improve the quality of accommodation for elderly people living in residential care in Princes Risborough.”

Councillor Mike Colston, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care said: "Its fantastic news that we have got planning permission as this will benefit our vulnerable older people.  The new home will be of a 5-star standard that I would want for myself or anyone in my family.  I'm very excited that our second new older people's care home will soon be underway."

The new home is designed to replace Icknield Court – an existing care home in Princes Risborough. It is being built as part of Project Care, a regeneration programme across Buckinghamshire which is designed to improve the quality of accommodation for elderly people and people with learning disabilities, as well as conforming to future legislation on care standards.

Under Project Care Housing Solutions, a not for profit Housing Association, is working in partnership with Buckinghamshire County Council and The Fremantle Trust, a registered charity specialising in providing care for elderly people and people with learning disabilities.

Over the next five years, Project Care is expected to provide nearly 600 beds in new residential care homes for the elderly, 30 new one-bed flats and seven new shared houses for people with learning disabilities, as well as 180 new affordable rented, key worker and shared ownership flats.

The planning permission is subject to Housing Solutions reaching an agreement with Wycombe District Council on outstanding planning obligations.
